Utility Player & Club TreasurerAndrew was introduced to to volleyball at Stowmarket Middle School in autumn 1990, where Mervyn Evans taught the sport. Andrew spent longer than most pupils playing volleyball, as he was recuperating following a broken leg sustained in a freak indoor cricket accident the previous summer. After playing with the school's team for a while Andrew was invited to join Stow Stormers, Stowmarket Volleyball Club's junior team. A close-knit team played together for a number of years , also forming the majority of the Suffolk squad, and had considerable success in the Under 15 and Under 17 tournaments. During his time at school, Andrew was also part of the Central England Cadets squad. After finishing school, Andrew moved on to The University of Nottingham for four years. During his time there he regularly competed for the university in the Nottingham Mixed League, East Midlands League and the student competitions BUSA and the EVA Student Cup. The university's greatest volleyball achievement during his time in the team was a top-eight finish in The Student Cup in 2001. Andrew held a number of positions of responsibility within the university's volleyball club and put a great deal of effort into turning the club's finances around, which had been in a disastrous state when he arrived. Andrew had considerable success in his efforts and likes to think that he laid the foundations for the club's later successful BUSA championship in 2004. Since completing his degree, Andrew returned to Suffolk in 2002 and despite living in Ipswich, returned to play for Stowmarket Volleyball Club. In 2007 Andrew made his National League debut for the club following a number of seasons competing in the Suffolk and Eastern Region competitions. Andrew is currently the club's treasurer.
